I'm Maryam, an artist based in Seattle, originally from Kaduna, Nigeria.

In Hausa, ido means "eye." Creative Ido is my practice of paying attention—making, observing, and documenting what catches my eye as I move through the world.

Artwork

I work across multiple mediums—charcoal, ink, mixed media, digital—choosing materials based on what each piece needs. My practice centers on observing everyday spaces: the architecture and nature around us, the play of light and shadow, the textures and moments we might otherwise pass by.

Some pieces are quiet meditations on place. Others are more expressive—bold gestures and repetitive marks that help me process emotion and the human experience. I'm drawn to materials that allow for both control and spontaneity, and exploring to the universal through the personal: the feelings, observations, and questions that connect us all. My work is an ongoing investigation of how we experience the world—what we see, what we feel, and what we carry with us.

Journal

This is where I'm documenting the journey—studio notes, travel reflections, things I'm reading, observations about tech, design, and whatever else I'm processing.
